Our vision of the band 'spitfire'

By Emma Green and Kathrine Nielsen
We have tried over the past several months to find any sort of information or background to our selected artist 'spitfire' Yet looking through the creative commons website "www.jamendo.com" the website we initially found the song, along with wikipedia, youtube, metacafe and socialising networks such as myspace, facebook, bebo and twitter we have still been unable to find further information. We have decided to write up our own view as to how they might have been, target audience, what they aspire to do and generally how they got to where they are now.
Spitfire, a present band formed in the 90's of young men in their late teens to early 20's started out as a college project then later turned to proffesional performance. The group worked hard to get into gigs and to get auditions with music labels, they wanted to get a proper contract and do their own record. The road to this was extremely tough as their inspiration lay within late 50's to mid 60's musicians such as the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly and Bob Dylan, and there just does not seem to be space in the music industry for a band with these inspirations and therefore qualities, but they changed their style and gave their music a modern twist aiming at a younger rock'n roll audience allowing influence from such bands as Flogging Molly and Arctic Monkeys.
They have since been extremely successfull and are well known in Europe, the US and Japan with fast selling records going up every day. Yet because they started on the web they have a website (http://www.spitfire.co.uk/) on which their fans can contribute by uploading images themselves, videos, fan fiction ect, and on a regular basis fans are allowed to talk to the members of the band via a messenger service. On the website it is also possible for fans to buy merchandise (posters, CD's, DVD's signed books and little memorabillias made and produced by hand by the band members themselves - these also go onto online auctions which funds new up coming bands. A lot of things found on their website cannot be purchased in a shop but their latest "Spitfire - Greatest hits and most memorable music videos" can be bought either way, although you'd get a better deal online.
After the release of this the band members intend to have a break from music and touring and go into the music business by giving an opportunity to young people who started out like them, by starting their own record label.
